2010 Summer Softball Camp

3^rd-8^th Grade Skills Camp:    June 14^th – June 17^th         2:30 pm to  4pm

This camp will focus on learning the FUNdamentals of softball through instruction given by the Varsity Softball players and coaches.  Catching, throwing, hitting, bunting, and fielding…. will ALL be covered in FUN ways.  Be sure to bring a towel as we use the common summer activity of slip and slide to learn the proper sliding techniques.  We’ll use gum balls, water balloons, and slip and slide to get us ready to play ball. Get ready for some FUN this summer at Rockford’s Softball Skills Camp.

Pitching Sessions 1 and 2: 

Session 1: June 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, 30

Session 2:  July 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22

Small group instruction (2 participants per time slot only) will allow a lot of individual attention for each pitcher.  We will cover proper pitching techniques to decrease the risk of injury and to encourage strong mechanics.  The only way to get better is to pitch, pitch, pitch, so we have set aside many dates within each session.  You can’t go wrong, so sign up now! J

Catching Sessions 1 and 2: 

Session 1: June 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, 30

Session 2:  July 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22

Framing, proper throwing mechanics of the most successful catchers, fielding passed balls, retrieving foul pop flies, and learning to lead the field are a few of the topics covered during Sessions 1 and 2.

Hitting Sessions 1 and 2:

Session 1: June 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, 30

Session 2:  July 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22

Learn to be a strong hitter by drills and techniques inspired by Patrick Murphy of Alabama and Mike Candrea of Arizona.  We will have drills, drills, and more drills that are sure to improve hitting skills.
